we better make a fort
I joined Shelfari today, and as a reading tracker, I'm kind of finding it more streamlined than Goodreads. I'm fickle, but it's just PRETTIER. (ETA: If I invited anyone to join - in the annoying, pestering, it-sent-you-an-email way - I'm SO, SO sorry. I SWEAR I told it not to do that, because that shit is hella annoying.)

And I'm reading again! Look, I wrote a review and everything!

(Still hating Facebook. Psst guys, the secret to not letting Facebook spread your shit all over the internet? NOT GIVING IT TO THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE and/or take it away ASAP. Delete, delete, delete.)

In fandom news, they recast Daenerys in the Game of Thrones adaption. The new actress doesn't have much on her resume we can go check out, but from a physical standpoint she looks a hell of a lot more like my mental picture of the character than that girl from The Tudors ever did. (Maybe my impression of Tamzin Merchant is colored by her Katherine Howard, but she is totally a Sansa.)

I don't visualize characters exactly, but I generally have just enough of an idea that it's super-jarring when a choice is made and they don't fit it. This is pretty much why I hate casting games. (Well, and also people making choices that annoy me. Okay, so 90% choices that annoy me.) I mean, I don't know who the fuck Jaina Solo looks like, but it is not that damn too-pretty-in-a-super-generic-way brunette from One Tree Hill, okay? Sigh. I know it's silly and petty, but we all have our peeves.

(Neil Patrick Harris as Kyp was never particularly ridiculous, was it? [Only because I love NPH. Kyp is always ridiculous, but he could rock it.] Oh well. At least I'll always have Avril and Tawny and Keanu.)

This is not to say I never engage in (serious) mental casting myself. I just know that someone would hear my pick and be all OH HELL NO, X IS NOT THAT DAMN GIRL/GUY FROM [INSERT HERE] and I'd rather not inflict that on anyone else (or be open to the ridicule.)

(The one bit of EU faux-casting that never ceases to amuse me is Christian Bale as Jacen. Only because I think of American Psycho and the chainsaw scene and laugh and laugh and laugh.)

OH HEY EMPIRE IS 30 but George is not.

#1. Thank you for doing that round-up of ESB stuff. I didn't have a chance to look at it until this morning.

#2. Shelfari is very mac-y, yes? I joined awhile ago, forgot about, and I am embarrassed about how much I have not read since I started working for VZW.

#3. CHRISTIAN BALE AS JACEN SOLO IS MY NEW FAVORITE CASTING IN THE ENTIRE WORLD.

I think a few ESBs got away from me, but it's amazing I was together enough to do it in the first place so I'm at peace with it.

IT IS VERY MAC-Y. But it lacks an app. Goodreads has an app, why doesn't Shelfari?

FACT: Jacen would totally chase a chick through the halls of his Star Destroyer with a lightsaber while naked and covered in blood. Actually, now I'm kind of sad this isn't how they killed off Tahiri.

Did Shelfari just do a massive re-launch or something? My mom was talking about it o me yesterday. I have an account but haven't touch it since...*looks at latest books on there* yeah it's clearly been at least 2-3 years. It's prettier, but I still feel it's a bit clunkier because of FLASH. Plus, I'm too lazy to leave GoodReads at this point. I think the entire library system I work for is on there.

The specs

I know a lot of random stuff about Star Wars. I read a lot of books. I kind of hate Facebook, but I love Twitter and Tumblr.

I am online far, far too much.

(I used to make icons a lot.)
